RFID wristband and scanner

What is Smart Band®?
Smart Band combines RFID technology with a non-transferable, secure, and economical wristband.

What does it do?
The Smart Band can read and write data through an over-the-air RFID system interface.

What is it made of?
The Smart Band consists of an RFID microchip and antenna "inlet" sealed inside a wristband.

How does RFID communicate?
RFID technology provides an "over-the-air" interface. Unlike bar code data storage, with RFID line-of-sight communication is not necessary.

What frequency does the Smart Band use?
The RFID inlets that Smart Band currently uses operate at 13.56 megahertz.

Smart Band uses the 13.56 MHz frequency because:
(1) It can be read through the body and clothing,
(2) Fluids do not interfere with it, and
(3) 13.56 is "passive": the inlets do not require a battery and have a long shelf life.

Read/Write features:
A major feature of RFID is its Read/Write capability. Each Smart Band contains a factory code built-in to the inlet's computer chip. Users can seamlessly record and transfer data, such as serial numbers, personal records, account information, etc. from their computer system to the wristband (or vice versa).
