The Hendy Group, which has new and used car dealership locations spread across the South Coast of England, has launched a charity foundation in its 160th year of trading.
The Hendy Foundation, which will provide grants to local charities, projects and individuals of between £500 and £5,000, will take £2 from every car sale creating up to £50,000 charitable funds within the first 12 months.
With an emphasis on providing support to the local areas in which the group’s 57 outlets operate, staff and customers will also be encouraged to join in with fundraising attempts and provided information on local charitable foundations they support.
“Hendy Group has always had strong links with the local communities in which it operates and this Foundation provides the perfect umbrella for its charitable activities,” said trustee chair Rebecca Hendy, who says the group, which begun trading in 1859, has a “long tradition of giving back to the community.”
Hendy will be joined by commercial director Mark Busby, Lee Peck Media’s Alyson Marlow, and two more trustees yet to be appointed, who will oversee the foundation’s use of the money raised to best support local causes in the 30 areas they operate, including in West Sussex, East Sussex, Surrey, Kent and all the way to Devon.
